Top 100 Young Adult Book Blogs

Hi everyone!

So, here's an interesting tidbit of information: despite my lack of presence these past months, my blog was featured as part of the Top 100 Young Adult Book Blogs and Websites to Follow in 2019 by Feedspot. My blog was listed as #51.

Your reaction is the same as mine. WHAT???

I have no idea how this happened, but regardless, I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to have made it on the list. And ranked 51, too! Huh, this definitely helps boost my determination to do this blog right this year.

So my thanks go out to all of you. I'm not sure my humble blog's name was circulated to Feedspot, but it fills me with happiness to know that there are others who enjoy my blog enough to recommend it to others. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my bookish heart for sticking through with me <3

Also, I get to add this shiny new badge to my blog, hooray!

Young Adult Book Blogs

That's it from me now. I'll be back soonish with a quick review of the book I'm reading soon!

Best YA Book Blog Winner!!!

Oh my god, guys!

So here I was, going about my day, when suddenly, I received an email saying that I had won an award for being one of the best YA bloggers of 2015.

No. Freaking. WAY.

But there was a link to see the full announcement, and I clicked it, and it was true. My humble little blog was one of the winners. To see it among some of the biggest YA blogs out there...there's no way I can recreate that feeling.

I have no idea who nominated me, as I wasn't even aware of this award. But I'm extremely grateful and really want to hug whoever did. Words cannot express my utter befuddlement and shock! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I'll be proudly sporting this image as a badge very soon, so keep an eye out for it! :D Congratulations to all the winners, and I hope every single one of you have a fantastic day!

I love connecting with fellow fangirls, and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who loves specific books!

And anyone else who wants to do it! :D
(I'm in a bit of a time crunch right now, so I'm only nominating two people, sorry!)

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award!

Thank you so much Shikha from The Overflowing Shelf for nominating me this award!

Rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their website
2. Use the award logo in your post.
3. Answer the 10 questions provided by the blogger who tagged you
4. Nominate 10 bloggers
5. Ask them 10 questions

Alright! Let's go! :)

1. What's your favourite reading spot?

In my room, on my bed. It's quiet, and there's a bed for me to flop on when I get overcome with feels (it happens a lot).

2. Do you eat snacks while reading?

Nope. I tried before, but I didn't like how I kept losing my spot whenever I reached to grab something to eat. I'd rather sit there and read without distractions! That way, I'm completely immersed in the book's world :)

3. How many book have you read in 2015 so far?

I have read 96 new books as of today. But if I include books that I've re-read, then it's probably a LOT higher.

4. What book would you turn into a movie if you could?

I think it would be neat if by Splintered by A. G. Howard became a movie! Just think: a twisted Wonderland on the big screen, bigger and badder than Tim Burton's version...

5. Who are your top three auto buy authors?

Julie Kagawa, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and Cassandra Clare. But seeing as Cassandra Clare hasn't come out with any new books lately, I'm going to throw in Rick Riordan, because he's awesome.

6. If you could only read 5 books for the rest of your life, what would they be?

              1. The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
              2. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
              3. Push by Eve Silver
              4. Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout
              5. I CAN'T CHOOSE THERE ARE TOO MANY AWESOME BOOKS.

Basically, I would be very miserable if I only had 5 books to read for the rest of my life.

7. What book(s) got you into reading?

I was a strange child: I went through multiple obsessive phases of reading. First phase started with the Magic Tree House series by Mary Osborne. Then Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan. And finally, the book that started my continuous (and current) reading obsession, was Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. And this so call "reading phrase" I'm in right now isn't a phrase anymore; its permanent. It's my life!

8. Who is your favourite male character?

HA. I have too many, so I'm not going to pick because I honestly love them all and I can't even imagine life without any of them in my life ;)

9. Do you read more in the morning or night?

Night. I'm not a morning person.

10. Which is your least favourite read of 2015?

Probably Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey. I just didn't connect to the plot and characters. I apologize to anyone who loved that book.

My questions for my nominees:
1. What book have you re-read the most?
2. Most anticipated read(s) coming out this year?
3. What's your favourite genre?
4. Paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook?
5. Do you read before you sleep?
6. Top three favourite book couples?
7. Do you listen to music while reading?
8. Prettiest book you have/have seen?
9. Do you like reading buddies? If so, what book have you read with a buddy/want to read with a buddy?
10. Three under-hyped authors you love?

And my nominees are:
1. Chioma from Blue Book and Butterflies
2. Janna from Blow Out Books
3. Nicolette from A Read-aholic
4. Lucy from Things Lucy Reads
5. Megan and Cat from Books of Fascination
6. Kayleigh from A Book Lover's Playlist
7. Caroline fromJust Another Bookish Blog
8. Cloe from Mornings and Epilogues
9. Tasya from The Literary Huntress
10. Fiona from A Girl Between the Pages

I apologize if you've already been nominated. If you haven't, consider yourself nominated by me! :)

Blogger Recognition Award!

I was nominated by Sinead from Less Reality, More Books and Things Lucy Reads for this award! Thank you so much, guys!

Rules:
1. Select 15 other blogs you want to give this award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself of the person who has nominated you.

2. Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. List who you nominated in your post. Make sure to attach the award yourself!

3. Comment on each blog and let them know you've nominated them. Provide a link to your award post.

4. Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

My story:

I'm going to backtrack a bit.

Upon the dramatic milestone event known "the pursuit of higher education and a degree," I found myself in a small town where I didn't have any super-close friends who read books. I was beginning to drive one of my good friends An and my brother crazy with my rants (if you two are reading this, I'm sorry), so I knew I needed to rein in all my outspoken feelings. That worked for about a year and a half, and then last November, I couldn't take it anymore. Everything I wanted to say was building up inside of me, bottled and demanding to be expressedSo I figured, what the heck? Might as well give it a shot. At the beginning, I didn't really try connecting with other bloggers, in case I decided to quit. But as time went on, I found myself blogging more and more often, even though I knew no one was reading it. It wasn't until recently, as in this past April recent, that I decided to reach out to other bloggers and join the social blogging world.

I have never looked back since then. I've made a whole bunch of friends, and I've realized that blogging has become something very important to me. I finally have an outlet of emotions for the books I read, and not once have I ever been made to feel ashamed about my love of books here. I have finally met people who feel the same way I do about YA books, and these people are more than willing to discuss them with me. I love every single one of you guys.

Advice for New Bloggers:

1. Don't be afraid to reach out to other bloggers! Seriously. Book bloggers happen to be the nicest people around! We all love the same thing, and we all love talking about it, and we all love fangirling together.

2. Experiment with your blog. Do whatever you want with it! You'll never know what does or doesn't work until you try it out. Who knows, you might find that one perfect blog format, and everything will be fantastic afterwards!

3. Design your blog for YOU, not for your readers. Love neon yellow? Go for it. Change the font into something awesome, fiddle with the widgets, anything. It's your own blog, and you have complete control over what you want to do with it. No one's telling you that you have to have everything in one specific font, or that you should use tags/labels, or that it has to "fit in". There's no set guidelines. The blog is yours, and you can dress it up as you please!

My nominees:

1. Cloe, at Mornings and Epilogues
2. Cindy, at The Chronicles of A Book Maniac
3. Caroline, at Just Another Bookish Blog
4. Chioma, at Blue Books and Butterflies

Book Fangirling Blog Award!

**DON'T FORGET: The Dark Elements Series Re-Read is currently going on, hosted by me and Cody from Literary-ly Obsessed! It's not too late to join us, if you haven't already :) We're reading White Hot Kiss this week, and be sure to check back for our discussions and Q&As on Monday, July 20th! More information HERE.**

Now to the post.
I was nominated for the Book Fangirling Award by Fiona from A Girl Between the Pages! Thank you so much!

1. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Good question. To be honest, it's probably being able to shamelessly talk about books. I have great friends and family, but very few of them actually read. It's hard to express your fangirling emotions to someone when you know the other person is merely listening to you because they have to, not because they want to. It's a little lonely and confining, all this love in your heart that you can't express. That's why I love blogging. I've met some great people who feel the same way I do, and I'm never ashamed to talk on and on about books. It's like my little safe haven, because everyone here is just like me. So thank you all :)

2. Which books/series does your book boyfriend/s come from?

My list is incredibly long, to the extent where I'm sure a psychiatrist would put me in an asylum. I have so many book boyfriends. Is that considered cheating? Nah. It's not cheating if they live in different books!

3. What was the craziest thing you've ever done because of fangirling?

Has anyone read the Splintered series by A. G. Howard? It's a retelling to Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland. Well, according to that, the entrance to Wonderland is under a statute of a boy holding a sundial in London, England, and is part of/can be seen on the Thames Sundial Trail (real thing, you can actually Google it and see a picture of the statue). I recently found myself in London, and being an idiot, I decided to go looking for it. It's on private property, so I couldn't find it, and I was devastated. Instead, I stood on the sidewalk, having a mini freak-out/fangirling moment, being so close to the supposed entrance to Wonderland. And I got a lot of weird looks. We've already established that I need help, right?

4. If you were to choose one book or series to read for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. That series is my soul. Go read it if you haven't.

5. When was the last time you had a major book hangover, and what was that book/series?

Oh god. Probably Crash by Eve Silver, which is the final book to The Game series. I died. And died. And I think part of me is still dead. I can't believe it's over. *sobs*

Rules:
1. Create a blog post to accept your award
2. Add the blog award button into your post and put it on the side of your blog as a widget
3. Answer the questions I have above
4. Nominate between 5-10 book bloggers who you think also deserve this award
5. Come up with your own 5 questions for your nominees
6. Link me to your answers so I can see your answers :)

My Nominees:
Cindy, from The Chronicles of a Book Maniac
Mini, from Book Fanatics
Caroline, from Just Another Bookish Blog
Megan and Cat, from Books of Fascination
Haley and Cari, from My Addiction: Books

My Questions:
1. What's your most memorable moment of blogging?
2. What's the first book/series you ever fangirled over?
3. Have you ever been to a book event/book signing/met or saw authors?
4. If you could choose three book characters to come to life, who would they be, and from which book/series?
5. How often do you have a book with you when you're out?

I'm looking forward to your answers :)

Hmm... Probably The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. That book holds a special place in my heart. Always will.

Reading, obviously! Haha, apart from that, it's dressing up when no one's looking :)
5. What would you put on your Bucket List?
Visit an Olympic Stadium, attend a Shakespearian play at the Globe Theatre in London (that's actually happening very soon, so I'm super excited!!!), swim with dolphins, go on a Disney cruise, read 5 novel-length books in one day, meet one of my favourite authors or fellow bloggers, and so forth. Julie Kagawa, Eve Silver, Cassandra Clare, Sara Raasch, Rick Riordan, A. G. Howard, the list goes on...
