My Hogwarts Story Tag!

Thanks to Caroline from Just Another Bookish Blog for tagging me!

After finishing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, I've had a strong urge to re-watch all the movies. I've only gotten through The Goblet of Fire, Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Deathly Hallow Part 2 though. Oh well. But at least this tag lets me get back into the Hogwarts feel :)

The Musical Book Tag

It's been...a very long time since I've done a tag. I'm sorry to everyone who tagged me, but when the summer started, I was on a read-all-the-books-I-can-get-my-hands-on-and-write-reviews wave. It's definitely time for me to go back to basics now!

Thank you to Zoey from Magiverse for tagging me for the Musical Book Tag! I love musicals and broadway. Love, love, love them, even though I haven't been to many. But of those I have gone to, The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera are at a tie for my favourites!

Let's get started :)

Bookish Siblings Tag!

I was tagged by Caroline from Just Another Bookish Blog eons ago, and I've finally gotten the chance to do it! And by the way, Caroline created this herself, so it's pretty amazing :)

Rules:
1. Answer all the questions. Repetition is fine.
2. You can put yourself in any of the categories.
3. Tag others!
4. Fill in the categories with bookish characters! The characters don't have to be sibling-esque. If you don't know, for example, you can say "A character that *insert description* I can't stand is ____"

Great! Let's get started! I'm really excited for this ^.^

Blogging Buddies Tag!

Hi guys! I had the utter pleasure of being invited by Eve from Edge of Night to do this tag with her. As the name suggest, this tag involves the collaboration of two bloggers to answer some questions together. Eve is an amazing writer, and her poems are absolutely mystifying. If you haven't checked Eve's blog out, please do so now! Her blog is great, her writing fantastic, and her personality is simply the sweetest :)

For distinction purposes, my answers will be in purple and Eve's will be pink. Ready? Let's go!

Book Boyfriend Tag!

Thanks go to Caroline of Just Another Bookish Blog for tagging me! Seriously, if you guys haven't checked out her blog yet, do it now!

This is my kind of tag. Mainly because I know I'm going to take forever to complete it, due to all the FEELS ;)

1. The Most Romantic.
Hmm. Aiden from the Covenant series. He's just a sweetheart sometimes, and the number of times I've simply stopped reading from all my fangirl moments...well, you get the picture!

2. Dark and Moody Bad Boy with a Good Side.
ROTH from The Dark Elements. *Sighs dreamily* Seriously. He's a total demon bad boy, who also gardens and has kittens.

3. Paranormal Boyfriend
Morpheus from Splintered. He's just so...alluring. Mysterious. Troubled. Irresistible. A Netherling. I would totally be all over him, if he would have me.

4. One who you want to tame.
Kai from Sweet Evil or Seth from The Return. Both are just...wow. *blushes at the thought*

5. Boy you friend zone.
David, from Rebel Belle. He's cool and all, and I like him, but I think we'd be better off as friends.

6. Your soul mate.
OOOOH Ash from The Iron King or Jackson Tate from Rush! *Dies from the feels*  <3 <3 <3

7. One you want to elope with.
Quinn Runningbrook from Defiance. I will run away anywhere with him.

8. One you'd venture anywhere with.
Can I say the Darkling from the Grisha series? Please???

9. One you'd want to be stuck on a deserted island with.
Prince Kai from The Lunar Chronicles ;)

10. Most butt-kicking.
Jace Herondale from City of Bones! Just think of all the weapons he's mastered to use, and the demons he's slain...

TBR Tag!

Hi all! Lucy from Things Lucy Reads tagged me to do this! Thank you so much!
Questions:
1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I generally keep it on my computer. Goodreads is great, but I like having them all in one list, rather than having to load the next page and whatnot. I have a list of upcoming books, and then I have a random jumbled mess of books. I sometimes use Goodreads, but I normally just refer to my computer's list.

2. Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

Print! I'm not really an ebook person.

3. How do you determine which book on your TBR pile to read next?

Usually, if it's part of an ongoing series, I'll read that one first. If there's a fandom eagerly awaiting the next book, I want to be part of it! Other completed series I tend to wait a bit, as the fandom has died down and no one has any major feels I can talk to about, so it won't really make that much of a difference.

4. A book that's been on your TBR list the longest?

Gosh... I honestly don't know. They're all jumbled, and it's been so long...

5. A book you recently added to your TBR?

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas.

6. A book on your TBR strictly because of cover?

Slayers by C.J. Hill. There's a dragon on it. Enough said.

7. A book on your TBR you never plan on reading.

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard...or at least I'm saying that now. I'm not really in the mood for historical zombies, but that could just be my mood right now.

8. An unpublished book on your TBR that you're excited for?

That's basically all my upcoming fall releases! We have The Iron Warrior, The Immortal Heights, Ice Like Fire, The Rose Society, Winter, Untamed, the list goes on and on. I'm sure you can relate.

9. A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. But it's coming this month, I swear!

10. A book on your TBR you're dying to read?

The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa! (Yes, I already mentioned it, oops!)

11. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends you?

I'm cheating again, but A Court of Thorns and Roses. I'm reading it this month, so be on the lookout for it, okay?

12. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?

Oddly, only 23. Like I said, as much as I'm always on Goodreads, I normally don't use it for keeping track of my TBR pile.

My nominees:
YOU! (Or anyone who wants to do it!)

Book Cover Guessing Challenge!

Hi guys! The fantastic Fiona from A Girl Between the Pages tagged me to do this, and I have to say, it looks really fun!

Basically, I'm going to choose a few books I've heard little about or don't know and try to guess the synopsis of the book based off the cover. These books can be well-known books or books you've just seen in passing. Once you're done guessing, compare your guess to the synopsis on Goodreads, and see how you've done.

Here we go! First up:

My guess: I'm thinking this has something to do with alternative realities, or maybe time abilities? A girl either has powers, or discovers powers, and with the help of a guy, is able to harness these powers in an attempt to prevent doomsday.

Goodreads: Sixteen-year-old Janelle Tenner is used to having a lot of responsibility. She balances working as a lifeguard in San Diego with an intense academic schedule. Janelle's mother is bipolar, and her dad is a workaholic FBI agent, which means Janelle also has to look out for her younger brother, Jared.

And that was before she died... and is brought back to life by Ben Michaels, a mysterious, alluring loner from her high school. When she discovers a strange clock that seems to be counting down to the earth's destruction, Janelle learns she has twenty-four days to figure out how to stop the clock and save the planet.

Verdict: I was sort of on the right track! I guessed the part about time being part of the book. And doomsday. Then again, the tag lines on the book sort of scream time and doomsday

Next!

My guess: Judging from the dress, I'd say that this is a historical fantasy/paranormal. The main character probably discovers something very strange (and ultimately deadly) about herself, and tries to keep it a secret. Someone probably notices her, and tries to use her powers...

Goodreads: Philadelphia 1876. The Dead are rising. A zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor Fitt. Whoever controls the Dead Army has her brother. She avoids her mother's choice of husband for the lab of Spirit Hunters, including the maddeningly stubborn yet handsome Daniel. The situation threatens her reputation, and the lives of everyone in the city.

Verdict: I'm way off. The only thing I got right was the part about it being set in the past, and it being paranormal...

Number 3:

My guess: Okay, I'm almost certain this has to do with interstellar relationships. Girl meets a guy either through a chance meeting or a telepathic thing, and they can't be together, because they live on different planets. Their families are probably the leaders of the army, each bent on destroying the other's planet. Basically an semi inter-galaxtic Romeo and Juliet story, yes?

Goodreads: Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Verdict: Wow, I must be thinking of a different book... I got the alien part right, and the falling-in-love part too. But as for the rest...nope.

Number 4!

My guess: The main character suffers from the actions of someone special. Sort of like a "you do what you do, but please remember that we, the other people on the sidelines, just live here. We want nothing to do with whatever is going on with your life." But said main character probably ultimately gets dragged into it anyways, reluctantly.

GoodreadsWhat if you aren’t the Chosen One?

The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?

What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again.

Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.

Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.

Award-winning writer Patrick Ness’s bold and irreverent novel powerfully reminds us that there are many different types of remarkable.

Verdict: Yes! This is the closest I've gotten to being right! The "I'm-not-part-of-this-but-somehow-I-am!" vibe! Score one for me!

And finally, the last one:

My guess: Okay, this one I'm sure has to do with a love story. Also, my guess is that it takes place in spaces, as suggested by the title. Girl meets mysterious boy, turns out he's from another planet, and they try to find a way to be together.

Goodreads: Luxury spaceliner Icarus suddenly plummets from hyperspace into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive -- alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a cynical war hero. Both journey across the eerie deserted terrain for help. Everything changes when they uncover the truth.

The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

Verdict: ... I'm clearly terrible at this. This has nothing to do with different species falling in love with each other... *hangs head*

Okay. I tried my best. And though I didn't really get most of them right, this was still super fun to do! I'm going to tag these lovely people to have some fun:

Carrie at The Book Goddess
Lucy at Things Lucy Reads
Mimi at Book Fanatics

And anyone else who wants to do it! It's super fun, so do it!!!

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Hi guys! I was tagged by Things Lucy Reads to do this! Thank you very much! :)

Here we go!

1. Best book you've read so far in 2015.

That has to be one of the hardest questions of all times. I mean, there are just so many books to choose from! I've read so much, I can barely remember whether I read them this year or last year or the year before...

2. Best sequel you've read in 2015.

Ensnared by A. G. Howard. That counts as a sequel, right? Sort of?

3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.

I'm STILL trying to get my hands on a copy of A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and also An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa. I've been sitting in agony for these past two years, and it isn't funny.

5. Biggest disappointment.

Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins. I'm sorry, but it just didn't live up to my expectations.

6. Biggest surprise.

Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross. I loved her other series, yet I was hesitant on reading about ghosts. Biggest regret, because I never should have doubted her works!

7. Favourite new author (debut or new to you).

Melinda Salisbury, author of The Sin Eater's Daughter.

8. Newest fictional crush.

More like latest! Currently, it's Roth from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Every Last Breath. Bad-boy syndrome at work once again.

9. Newest favourite character.

That's going to have to Simon, from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli! I literally just finished this book, and it's phenomenal, and Simon is awesome!

10. Book that made you cry.

Ack, let's not talk about that...all the feels...

11. Book that made you happy.

Again, I'm going with Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. That was one extremely heart-warming and feel-good book! I haven't felt so happy reading like that for a while!

12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

I've only seen Insurgent, so...

13. Favourite review you've written this year

Crash by Eve Silver. That was one big downpour of emotions. I died. Review is here.

14. Most beautiful book you've bought this year.

Hmm, that's a hard question. As great as I've been buying books, none of the covers have really struck out to me as "the one and only." Though if I get my hands on a copy of A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray, that might take the prize.

15. What book/books do you need to read by the end of the year?

My list is WAY too long. Like, seriously. You won't believe how long it is. So. Freaking. Long. Just my to-read stack of books sitting on my floor right now...yeah. You get the picture.

And that's it! What are your thoughts? Any books I should check out? Let me know :)

90's Movie Book Tag!

Hey guys! Caro from Just Another Bookish Blog tagged me to do this. Thanks so much!

1. She's All That: name a book couple that are an odd pairing, yet still fit perfectly together.

Probably Alex and Aiden from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Covenant series. They're polar opposites, Alex being extremely tough and Aiden being reserved and soft-spoken, yet they are adorable together!

2. Things I Hate About You: a book/series you have a love/hate relationship with.

Lark Rising by Sandra Waugh. I was on the fence with the beginning, but it got really good afterwards!

3. Clueless: a character that is totally clueless, but you love them anyways.

Hmm, a clueless character that I liked? Hard to say. Probably Tessa Gray from The Infernal Devices. She had no idea what was going on!

4. Titanic: a book that made you cry.

I don't really cry when I read something sad... But I do get a little weepy when a particular good series ends. So I'm going to go with Crash by Eve Silver. Aka one of the worst book hangovers I've ever had.

5. American Pie: a book that made you laugh.

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins! It was so good!

6. Can't Hardly Wait: a book with a crazy party.

I hear Magnus Bane from Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments holds some pretty wild parties ;)

7. Cruel Intentions: name a character you could never fully trust.

I never really trusted Dante from Julie Kagawa's Talon series. He was too...loyal? Refused to loosen up? Pro-evil organization? Take your pick.

8. Drive Me Crazy: name your favourite "boy next door" or "girl next door" couple.

Hello, Daemon and Katy from the Lux series!

9. Scream: a book with a memorable villain.

Hands down, Voldemort from Harry Potter. Everyone knows He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named...

10. The Craft: a book with witches.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia. Though they call themselves Casters, not witches.

I'd like to tag these lovely people:

Lucy, from Things Lucy Reads
Sinead, from Less Reality, More Books

I Mustache You Some Questions Tag

Thanks go to Caroline from Just Another Bookish Blog who tagged me to do this! Thank you so very much!
1. Four jobs I would like to have?

Huh. Well, might as well put it all out there: author, environmentalist, book promoter (aka me going around trying to convince people to read books and just fangirling like an idiot), librarian.

2. Four movies I have watched more than once?

Every Harry Potter movie, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, every Narnia movie, and Avengers. This list is actually a lot longer, but I can only choose 4 *shrugs*

3. Four books I would recommend?

HA, only 4? Well then, let's see, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Rush by Eve Silver, and Splintered by A. G. Howard.

4. Four places I have visited?

Hong Kong, New York City, Kyoto, and Edinburgh!

5. Four things I don't eat?

Mint, nuts, cream cheese, and pickles. Just don't like them.

6. Four of my favourite foods?

Mango sherbet, cantaloupe, sushi, and cake! Mmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about them...

7. Four television shows I watch?

Marvel's Agents of Shield, Sherlock, and...that's about it. I'd rather be reading ;p

8. Four things I'm looking forward to this year

Book releases. There are a lot more than 4...

9. Four people to tag?

I've seen this tag being done everywhere, so I'm not quite sure who hasn't done it yet! If you haven't done it, consider yourself having been tagged by me :)

Book Combo Tag

The wonderful Haley at In Paperback Heaven tagged me to do the Book Combo tag! Thank you so much! :)

I'd like to tag:
1. Carrie, from The Book Goddess
2. Fiona, from A Girl Between the Pages
3. Kayleigh, from A Book Lover's Playlist
4. Fari and Kitty, from My Little Corner for Books
5. And anyone else who want to do this :)

1. Which two authors would you like to put their writing skills together and write a new book?

Gosh, that's a hard one. But I think it would be really cool to read something written by Kiersten White and Rachel Hawkins. They would probably be able to write one seriously awesome and snarky heroine!

2. What's your favourite author collaboration?

I haven't really read much, but I just finished The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. It was pretty good!

3. If you could combine two completely different stories and make them a book of their own, what would it be and what would it be called?

Can you image what would happen if Talon by Julie Kagawa and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare came together? You would have dragons that walk among us, probably a new type of Downworlder. And then you would have the Order of St. George, who clearly aren't just mundanes, clash with the Shadowhunters, who have never experienced before an entire colony of dragons trying to take over the world. Bam. One epic story. And I have no idea what it would be called. Maybe something like Shadowhunters and Dragons? The tagline would totally be "they walk among us" or something :D

4. Which two worlds from two different stories would you like to see come together to make one epic world?

One epic world, huh? I think mixing Eragon by Christopher Paolini and Narnia by C. S. Lewis would make one awesome fantasy world. I would totally visit it as often as possible, maybe even live there.

5. Which duology/trilogy series would you liked to have been one book?

None. As great as standalones are, I always like reading a series much better. There's simply more content, meaning more time to spend your time reading!

Taylor Swift Book Tag!

**DON'T FORGET: The Dark Elements Series Re-Read is starting July 14th, hosted by me and Cody from Literary-ly ObsessedThis is in celebration of the upcoming release of Every Last Breath, so you don't want to miss it! Join us! More information HERE.**

Now to the post.
The lovely Sinead from Less Reality, More Books tagged me to do the Taylor Swift tag. Thank you so much!

1. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: Pick a book or series you were sure you were in love with, then wanted to break up with.
Embrace by Jessica Shirvington. I was sure that I'd love it, so I bought it without really thinking. And now I don't know what to do with it...

2. Red: Pick a book with a red cover.
The Pirate's Wish by Cassandra Rose Clarke. This is a Book 2 of a great story involving pirates and assassins!

3. The Best Day: Pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic.
Wish Upon A Unicorn by Vicki Blum. This was the book that made me fall in love with fantasy. (Yes, I was one of those kids who loved unicorns. I feel no shame.)

4. I Knew You Were Trouble: Pick a bad character you couldn't help but love.

Jackal, from The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. He counts, right? I mean, he kind of was the bad guy in the first book...and then he became a good guy... Does anyone get me here?

5. Innocent: Pick a book someone ruined for you.
The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. My brother got his hands on it first...and well, enough said.

6. Everything Has Changed: Pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini! Simple farm boy turns into the saviour of the Alagaësia, and just whoaaa.

7. You Belong With Me: Pick you most anticipated book release.
THERE ARE TOO MANY. Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout and The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa are the first ones that pop up in my mind. I NEED THESE NOW.

8. Forever and Always: Pick your favourite book couple.

That's impossible. There's too many! Jace and Clary, Miki and Jackson, Cinder and Kai, Daemon and Katy, America and Maxon, Iolanthe and Titus, THE LIST GOES ON FOREVER.

9. Shake It Off: Pick a book you love so much, you just shake off the haters.

The Mortal Instruments series. I don't care about the haters. I love this world to bits, and I would happily Ascend to join them if I could.

10. Blank Space: Pick the most hyped-up book that didn't work for you at all.

Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith. I mean, it was good enough for a TV show, but as for the actual story, I couldn't really get into it.

11. Invisible: Pick the most under-hyped series that deserves some spotlight.

The Game series by Eve Silver. Because seriously, it is fantastic. Go read it and report back to me.

12. The Story of Us: Pick a couple you think should end up together.
Aileana and Kiaran, from Elizabeth May's The Falconer. Yes, they have their issues, but seriously, GET TOGETHER. Please.

13. Love Story: Pick a forbidden love in a book or series.

Meghan and Ash. Enough said. <333

I'm going to tag these lovely people:
Amethyst Bookwyrm
Diaries of a Book Lover

Happy reading, and don't forget to join The Dark Elements Reread on the 14th!

Time Traveller's Book Tag

I was tagged by the Caro, at Just Another Bookish Blog to do this! Thank you so much!

I really do love the idea of time travel. Which is why I was super pumped to do this tag!
(Anyone with me with the Harry Potter Time Turner?)

You can click on the covers at the bottom to read more about these books :)

1. What is your favourite time period to read about?

Hmm. That's a hard one. Maybe the Medieval-ish ages, because then there are tons of mythical creatures/magic/swords to make things exciting. Plus, in YA, you get a princess who gets to prove to the world that she does NOT need saving :) Examples include Kiss of DeceptionEragonThe Girl of Fire and Thorns and many more.

2. Name a character from a classic novel and a character from a recent novel who would make great friends. Why?

I'm going to pick Scout from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird and pair her up with Meira from Sara Raasch's Snow Like Ashes. Both are rebellious, and both hate being lady-like.

3. Which author now passed would you like to travel back in time to meet?

Lewis Carroll, C. S. Lewis, and William Shakespeare. Translation: I"m a sucker for Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, and Shakespeare.

5. Name a novel set in the present day, and imagine it set in another time period. What would that time period be, and how would it affect the story?

Can you image what it would be like if Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins was set a hundred years back? The plot would be very different. How would the Nephilim work in the old days, trying to get humans to sin? How would good-girl Anna do it? And seeing that they travel the world quite often on planes, how would that work? Answer: it wouldn't. Anna would have to be a lot more creative!

6. Which book's version of the future would you most want to live in?

Oh god. My mind is instantly going to every dystopian book I've ever read, in which Earth's future is not good. At all. The most peaceful dystopian world would have to be The Selection by Kiera Cass, because I wouldn't die as easily.

7. If you could time travel, which character would you most want to time travel with?

Probably Puck, from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series. He's seen all, so he'd be the perfect tour guide. Plus it would be fun to play pranks in these time eras. And, if things got really bad, Puck could glamor us invisible :)

8. If you were stuck in a time-loop (aka Groundhog Day), which book would you not mind reading over and over?

Easy answer: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa. I can read that book a million times, and still it will never get old.

9. What is your favourite book or series that has time-traveling as a key plot point?

Probably Ransom Rigg's Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series. Time loops, peculiar children with powers, secret organizations, it's all super cool. It's also becoming a movie, which I'm super excited to see!

10. If given the chance, would you a) time travel b) if so, when/where would you visit first c) what book/book series would you bring along with you?

I would totally time travel! My first stop probably would be to visit myself a few years ago. I would chuck a load of books at my past self and tell her to start reading them, because I'll have less time to read when I get older. This counts as answering the question, right?

11. Who do you tag?

I'm tagging:
1. Cody, from Literary-ly Obsessed
2. Anna, from Enchanted by YA
3. Carrie, from The Book Goddess
