Okay, if you know me, then you'll know that one of the authors I worship is Julie Kagawa, author of The Iron Fey series, The Immoral Rules series, and her ongoing Talon series.
And she has just officially revealed the cover to Legion, the fourth book of her Talon series:
Guys, it's green!
If you've read Soldier, you'll know that there's a certain green dragon in the book. Without spoiling her role in the story, what makes her so unique is that she's an Eastern dragon, aka from Asia, and thus takes the form of a traditional Asian dragon (flies with no wings, capable of bringing down storms, and a bunch of other amazing things). Which, to me, makes her extremely special, because how many amazing traditional Asian dragons are there in literature? Not a lot, that's for sure. I'd definitely be down to read more stories featuring fearsome Asian dragons, not just Western dragons!
But moving on from the green dragon cover, I'm absolutely in love with the symbol within the O. If you look closely enough, you'll see that it's actually a ying yang, with dragons replacing the traditional symbol. Again, it's another play on Asian culture, which I really appreciate and love! Ying yang represents balance, which this book is definitely going to need after everything that went down in Soldier. And I doubt I need to say more about. That. Ending.
Much to my dismay, this book isn't set to release until May, 2017. Why May? All the other books have been coming out in April! Sigh. But until then, I shall be eagerly awaiting the release of the synopsis!
And before I go, here's a bit about Talon, the first book, in case you haven't read the series yet! Do pick it up :)
Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.
Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.
Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.
What?! I thought this was going to be a trilogy!
ReplyDeleteOk, I waited a long time for Talon to come out, and I loved it once I read it... Aaand I haven't read the rest of the series. And I don't even know why! Because it's really good and I love Kagawa (and The Iron Fey series omg). I seriously need to read the rest now D:
Thanks for sharing!!
Lipstick and Mocha
This is actually a 5-book series! I was shocked when I found out it wasn't a trilogy too. The rest of Kagawa's works (which I ADORE) have mainly been trilogies, so this is very different! But all I'm going to say is that with the expanse of the dragon world, it makes sense for her to have 5 books!
